(More customer reviews)If you're anything other than the very occasional musician, you'd be better off buying the version of this product with the hard case.I'm gigging 3-4 times a month and find that the soft case allows pedals to shift so much during transit that they come loose from the board.The padded flight case would hold pedals down more securely.

But there's more to the problem. First, the Velcro isn't anywhere near strong enough to hold down heavier pedals (e.g. a Digitech Whammy, even a Cry-Baby), which come loose even when picking the board up to put it in its case. I've ended up using cable ties wrapped around the crossbars to augment the Velcro.Second, the glue on the back of the supplied Velcro isn't strong enough to stay attached to many pedals.I've ended up using Gorilla glue to get the stuff to stick.

I'm not sure there is any solution to these problems, since any pedal-board would have the same issues.

Having said that, it's a good solid pedal-board, probably the best available.

DigiTech RP350 Guitar Effects Processor Review

(More customer reviews)The amp simulators alone make the Digitech RP350 worth the price of admission. No piece of solid state equipment can capture all of the nuances of tube gear, but this thing comes reasonably close.

The main limitation I found is that you can run only ONE effect at a time from the Chorus/FX module (delay and reverb are in a separate module). So running chorus and flange together is impossible. Ditto with phaser and pitch shift. I would strongly recommend visiting the Digitech website and downloading the manual so that you know exactly what you are getting. The website also has clips of the presets, though actually playing one would of course be better.

My only other gripe is that the Marshall Plexi simulation could use a higher maximum gain level. You have to mate it with a distortion pedal simulation to get a decent among of distortion. I prefer my Tech 21 Sansamp GT2 for 70s hard rock sounds.

For the price, this was well worth it for me. I just hope Digitech makes future models with two FX modules instead of only one.

Crate TX15 Battery Powered Guitar Amp Combo, 15W Review

(More customer reviews)This little amp is really appropriate for buskers.Plug in an acoustic (with pickup) or an electric guitar, and a mic at the same time.Mic input is XLR (low Z) or standard 1/4" (hi Z)- the flexibility is great.Website says that the tone controls (4 band) are for both channels.On mine, now about four years old, the tone controls only apply to channel two.Channel one is "straight" into the amp.They may have changed the specs since mine was made.

Overall the amp is great for the money.Good little practice amp and good for small solo/duo gigs.I've also used it as a mini-monitor if I can get an output from the bands board/mixer.I take it on vacation and play at the beach or on my tailgate.Great for taking in the backyard and plugging in an mp3 player or DVD player (using an input adapter).

PROS:
-Relatively inexpensive
-Runs on battery OR AC power
-Dual inputs
-Good tone controls
-Fairly rugged construction (good cabinet, handle, grille and fasteners, etc)
CONS
-RCA/phono inputs for a CD player are slightly out of date.A 3.5 mm phone input for mp3 player would be much more useful.Also the RCA inputs have absolutely no volume control (and no tone control) so you are dependent on the CD player (or mp3 player) to control the volume.
-Pretty flat tone.No distortion or effects.If you want any grit/breakup or reverb you'll need a pedal(s).
-Reports that SLM Electronics has sold the Crate lineup and parts are now much more difficult to get.

Behringer PB1000 Universal Effects Pedal Floorboard Review

(More customer reviews)This is an inexpensive pedalboard, costing about 1/2 to 1/3 as much as some of the others.It sets up easily.I do not have any Behringer components, but it fits the small Boss units in the standard slots.They do not provide extra foam for oddly-sized components, of which I have several.For my MXR flanger, Green Screamer, Morley pedal, and MXR Noise Gate I had to cut out custom foam inserts.I found the foam at mcmaster.com.

When closed, the case provides good protection for the pedals, which was my main reason for buying it.Unfortunately the Morley pedal doesn't fit when the case is closed, so I still have some fussing to do to get set up, but it is much better than before when I had all of the pedals thrown into a bag.

The biggest problem with this arrangement is that it is NOISY, especially when using a compressor or the Green Screamer.I suspect that the noise is coming from a ground loop, which is not uncommon in pedalboards, when several pedals share the same power supply.There are some possible solutions, of which the most promising appears to be a multi-tap transformer that would isolate the ground returns.But that is still on the list of things to do.In my case the MXR and Morley run on AC so there is AC power running near the signal lines, which also is probably contributing to the noise.

All told I think this is a decent product, at a good value (considering it comes with what could easily be $50 worth of patch cords).For a garage band, it is adequate.If you are going on tour with Pink Floyd, you can probably afford something a bit more high end.

It's All About Connections
This pedal board makes hooking up 12 2.5" x 4.5" pedals as easy as hooking up just one (of course, if you're using pedals that aren't 2.5" x 4.5", the snug foam padding can be cut to accommodate pedals of varying shapes). The PB1000 includes 1/4-inch patch cables, so you can leave your pedals connected to one another, ready to pass signal even when you're transporting them. It also comes with 1 x 12 daisy chain cabling so that when you plug in the 1.7 A power adapter, all your pedals receive power.
The Ins and Outs
Connect your guitar, bass or keyboard to the single 1/4-inch input in the upper right corner of the board. A pair of 1/4-inch jacks in the upper left corner allow you to connect stereo effects, and two 1/4-inch jacks send a left and right stereo signal to up to two amps. When it is time to load out, just unplug the power supply, disconnect your guitar and amp, put the lid back on the PB1000 and slide the locking latches back into place.
Pedal Protection
The PB1000 is made of heavy-impact plastic, a casing that will protect your pedals from the rigors of the road, including heavy impacts.
