Washburn Travel Series RO5 Travel Guitar Review

(More customer reviews)I got it and was very disappointed.There is only one word to describe this and that is undersized.It is smaller than the other strumstick type instruments.It sounds fine, much less tinny - if you put your ear six inches away.Forget playing with other instruments as it will be drowned out.Its neck is much too thin on the finger board.If you are an adult, you can only play the first string, as the others are far closer than a guitar or ukulele. So forget learning to play chords, or the middle or third string, as even my little finger can't touch one string without touching at least one other.You are also supposed to attach the bridge your self, though they do give the clue that it must be at 194 mm from the last fret.On the plus side, it came with a nylon travel case and an, uh, knitting yarn sort of strap. For a child it would be a good instrument, and as a child's instrument, seems well enough made.But this is not good for adults.

It's easy on the eyes with it's beautiful color and finish, and overall just a gorgeous guitar. It has a slim profile which isn't expected but quite nice as it's not as heavy as other guitars. I've read that the red finish varies from guitar to guitar, but on mine, you can clearly see the wood grain through the finish and it's beautiful. Silvertone has a reputation for quality and this particular guitar has a lifetime limited warranty. It's very reasonably priced for this quality of guitar. I found it difficult to find one for sale, so that must be a testament to it's appeal as people just aren't getting rid of them. The sound is amazing. Seriously, I had several electric guitars prior to this, and the moment I plugged it in, the difference in sound was undeniable and amazing. The best way I can describe the sound is deep, mellow and soulful. It produces great sound no matter what you do with it. The humbuckers are decent as well, and it turns out they're interchangeable with Gibsons, etc. Overall, a great guitar.

ELECTRIC GUITAR PACK ACCSSTARCASTER BY FENDER STRAT Review

(More customer reviews)There is no sense in not being honest, for how much you end up paying, you will feel very satisfied with this product.I've been abusing this gear for about 6 months and have only run into two problems.The amp to guitar cable just stopped working.Not too big of a deal, I ended up just buying a Monster brand cable 12ft for about $18 including shipping from Amazon and have been outstandingly pleased with the quality.The only other issue has been the cheap quality of the tremelo bar as it broke off inside of my bridge.This is a much harder fix, but this is a fairly minor issue once you start picking up more techinques on how to play (visit [...] it has like 300,000 free tabs and free video lessons on how to play... the DVD provided was okay but is eclipsed by this site).
Other than that, this is a nice little guitar.The fretboard feels great (the intonation on the upper frets seem a bit off but I hear this is pretty normal anyway) and the strings given hold up well for a good sound.The tuning heads hold nicely as well (I had a week were I played bout 5-6 hours a day pretty hard and I only lost bout a quarter note on each string).Not too many options with the amp, but playing around with it some and the pick-up selector can give amazing sounds all things considering.If you are worried that this little amp can't get loud, fear not.For at home use with OverDrive on, you can bug quite a few people in your home more than likely at level 2 volume (I play a bit less than 1 typically) and it goes up to level 10 volume!
Overall, this is well worth the money.Perhaps this gear is not the best suited for gigging, but that isn't what you should be buying a starter kit for anyway now is it? For anyone that wants to learn guitar with some cool sounds (acoustic can get old) this is probably the best $[...] (after shipping) or so dollars you can spend!

It is my first electric, but I've played many electrics, including my friend's PRS Custom 24. By no means does this guitar compare, but for an up-and-coming company such as Luna, this being the bottom end of their guitar choices, this guitar is excellent. I got it in great condition (although in came in a Dean Guitars box???). I love the way it sounds with my effects board and I really don't need to use an amp when plugged into a sound system. I love the clean sound of the guitar as well as my distortion sounds. I couldn't ask for a better guitar after paying the mere $215 I got for it. I payed more for a Fender acoustic that I am not as proud of. This guitar is great for a beginning guitarist or for a first electric. Excellent job by Luna guitars and, if I upgrade, it will be with Luna.

(More customer reviews)I've had the Cube for 2 and a half months now. It offers a wide range of effects, sufficient amplification for home practice, and...a wide of effects. The effects are really what this product is all about. What it lacks in power, it punches you in the face with various sound distortions. Acoustic, Heavy Metal, all these sounds are packed into this Cube.

Best of all, it's small and portable! Like the vast majority, I am constrained by budget (who isn't! :P). While no professional guitarist needs this, I consider it a good buy for most of us part-timers.

(More customer reviews)First off, the sounds that come from this pedal are really good....5 stars for the sound quality and build quality. It is built like a tank.

Minus 1/2 star for the very loud switch....when you press the button it makes a very loud click sound which can be annoying in quiet settings. I have read that you can replace the switch with a quieter one, but why doesn't it just come with a quieter one to begin with? Or how about offering an option of a "quiet switch" for those who play in smaller venues/quieter environments?

Minus 1/2 star for requiring a separate power adapter. If you use a pedal board it can be a hassle to have many different power adapters with wires and such coming out of the board.....this one requires its own power and can't be powered by the standard multi-adapters used with pedal boards.

Overall I would recommend this pedal - it sounds great, is built great, and provides a wide variety of sound processing all in one pedal....very nice.

First Act ME445 Designer Double Cutaway Electric Guitar Review

(More customer reviews)About a year and a half ago, I bought the First Act ME501 for a whopping $59, and loved it.I loved it so much, I took it on stage with me, and it eventually became my first choice over my $600 American Standard Telecaster.It was reliable, and sounded great through my Tech 21 amp.

A few weeks ago, trolling the Ebay site, I spotted the ME445 going for less than $50 - I bought it...once again rationalizing the purchase due to its low price.When it arrived, once again, I was pleased with the craftsmanship of the instrument.I plugged it into the Tech 21, and was quite satisfied with the tone.Whereas the ME501 has a more crunchy, garage band tone, the ME445 has a much creamier and bluesy tone to it.It also seems a little lighter than my ME501, however, it's got terrific sustain.Just like my 501, it stays in tune like a champ.

I still see where people are relegating First Acts to the bottom of the musical instrument spectrum, which is too bad.I've gone broke buying Gibsons and Fenders over the years - First Act builds terrific instruments that stand up just fine with the pricier status symbol guitars.

The ME445 is a terrific guitar bargain for those just learning.In my case, a veteran guitar player of over 20 years, I'm comfortable bringing this axe on stage with me - it looks cool and sounds great...I wouldn't hesitate to buy this again...

Rogue Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar, Natural Review

(More customer reviews)I have bought several instruments from Musician's Friend and several Rogue instruments, as well. All of these Rogue instruments are of excellent quality. We have an acoustic dreadnought, a 12 string dreadnought, and this concert size acoustic electric.

For those of you looking for a beginning instrument or a second instrument, definitely look at Rogues. We are so impressed with everything we've received from both Musician's Friend, and its "house brand", Rogue.

When my son wanted to learn guitar, we were going to just give him one of my husband's, but it was really too big. So, we decided to get him this concert size cutaway guitar. We looked at a lot of instruments and decided to go with the Rogue. Rogue instruments do not have a wide varying price range. The highest priced instrument doesn't go over a couple of hundred dollars. So, when you spend only $100 on something, they aren't cutting a lot of corners from their highest-end models. Conversely, if you buy a starter Gibson package or some other well-respected company's starter pack, they cut a lot of corners from their highest-end guitars/stringed instruments. If a company makes a guitar that retails over a few thousand dollars, or even if the average selling price is $500, they are going to cut a lot of corners to make a guitar (or mandolin) priced at under $100.

So, this specific guitar came with Martin Strings.Yes, they make great instruments, but only decent strings. Still, these sounded fine.The action on this specific guitar was pretty low. We would have preferred LOWER, but it isn't too high.The pickup/preamp system works great! I read on Musician's Friend's website that some people have had difficulty with this, but not here.The finish, beautiful.Everything about this guitar screams, "I'm a $400 guitar".The sound-- most importantly-- is pretty rich for a cutaway concert size guitar with a pickup installed. I think it sounds great. My husband does, too, although he doesn't think it's quite as rich as a dreadnought.I don't hear too much of a difference.

With the Rogue instruments, this just isn't an issue. Want a twelve string? Only a bit over a hundred and sounds great! Want a mandolin? Nothing is stopping you at under $50. And, you really won't be disappointed, either. Even if you have to lower the action or pay for a professional setup, you still come way out ahead.

We have very expensive instruments in our house and we have these Rogues. The Rogues feel and sound as if they are $400 instruments. No comparison to the $100 famous brand starter guitars I looked at.This one will last for years.

I plugged it into my Fishman Loudbox acoustic amp and it sounds amazing. I was concerned about it being a passive pickup but it's powerful, clear, and makes my guitar sound better than it actually is.
