Rogue Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar, Natural Review

(More customer reviews)I have bought several instruments from Musician's Friend and several Rogue instruments, as well. All of these Rogue instruments are of excellent quality. We have an acoustic dreadnought, a 12 string dreadnought, and this concert size acoustic electric.

For those of you looking for a beginning instrument or a second instrument, definitely look at Rogues. We are so impressed with everything we've received from both Musician's Friend, and its "house brand", Rogue.

When my son wanted to learn guitar, we were going to just give him one of my husband's, but it was really too big. So, we decided to get him this concert size cutaway guitar. We looked at a lot of instruments and decided to go with the Rogue. Rogue instruments do not have a wide varying price range. The highest priced instrument doesn't go over a couple of hundred dollars. So, when you spend only $100 on something, they aren't cutting a lot of corners from their highest-end models. Conversely, if you buy a starter Gibson package or some other well-respected company's starter pack, they cut a lot of corners from their highest-end guitars/stringed instruments. If a company makes a guitar that retails over a few thousand dollars, or even if the average selling price is $500, they are going to cut a lot of corners to make a guitar (or mandolin) priced at under $100.

So, this specific guitar came with Martin Strings.Yes, they make great instruments, but only decent strings. Still, these sounded fine.The action on this specific guitar was pretty low. We would have preferred LOWER, but it isn't too high.The pickup/preamp system works great! I read on Musician's Friend's website that some people have had difficulty with this, but not here.The finish, beautiful.Everything about this guitar screams, "I'm a $400 guitar".The sound-- most importantly-- is pretty rich for a cutaway concert size guitar with a pickup installed. I think it sounds great. My husband does, too, although he doesn't think it's quite as rich as a dreadnought.I don't hear too much of a difference.

With the Rogue instruments, this just isn't an issue. Want a twelve string? Only a bit over a hundred and sounds great! Want a mandolin? Nothing is stopping you at under $50. And, you really won't be disappointed, either. Even if you have to lower the action or pay for a professional setup, you still come way out ahead.

We have very expensive instruments in our house and we have these Rogues. The Rogues feel and sound as if they are $400 instruments. No comparison to the $100 famous brand starter guitars I looked at.This one will last for years.

(More customer reviews)Upon buying and receiving this starter pack for my daughters 10th birthday, we were intially very happy.It is a beautiful blue guitar that sounded amazing right out of the box.Although it is a small thing the decals that were to be included were missing and to my 10 yr old it was an important item.I quickly emailed the company and awaited the response.The only response I got was a newsletter and monthly advertisments--no answer as to how to get the decals or if we even could.After a week I proceeded to call the company and was told (rather rudely)that the woman I was speaking with didn't handle that and she would transfer me to someone who did.I have since left 2 voicemails and have gotten no response.I don't understand the problem here I payed over $200 for this kit and expect everything to be in the package.If I had known it was going to be such a problem I would have packeaged it all back up and exchanged it. Will update when I hear anything.

I bought it because i was tired of taking some of my more expensive guitars on the road in the back of my van with all the other electronic equipment tubling around.I liked this K2TRD because for an expensive guitar it has great sound and a boat load of resonance. My next trick was to pull the string off and replace them with D Adarrio 10's so i could play this guitar like an electric and be able to bend strings........works great and everyone who plays it loves it...hrt

Yamaha F335 Acoustic Guitar, Natural Review

(More customer reviews)I was looking for an inexpensive travel-type guitar that I could leave at my daughter's house and use when I visit, as opposed to shipping my Martin M-36 and risking damage (not to mention paying for shipping back and forth). So, I didn't want to spend much, but was unwilling to settle for a pure piece of junk, either. I tried some of the various designated travel guitars, and thought the Baby Taylor was just plain bad sounding. I liked the Martin Backpacker, but there I was in the $200 range and I just didn't want to drop the coin. I looked at some cheap off-brand guitars and they sounded tinny and, well, cheap. Then I spotted this Yamaha on sale and was impressed. I mean, at this price point there is not much competition. I've definitely stroked some more expensive guitars that did not feel as nice. It seems well made, looks nice, sounds clean and has easy action. Nothing bad here. Of course, it does not sound like my Martin, no way Jose! Nor does it feel like my Martin, so don't have any illusions there, either. But it does what it does very cleanly and without presenting any problems, so how can you possibly go wrong? If it gets dinged or scratched, no biggie. My daughter liked it so well I gave it to her and it will serve her very nicely as a guitar to learn on. I think I might put on some Martin SP4100 strings and I expect that this will improve the sound, which even with the stock strings is not bad. Go for it!

(More customer reviews)This acoustic guitar case is very poorly designed.The case material itself is light weight and durable as advertised but there are no latches to hold the case closed. ...No latches at all.The only thing that holds it closed, and not very tightly, is a flimsy zipper on the external cover. I would expect it to break quickly under normal use. It seems like a really clumsy closure mechanism.
I personally can't bring myself to put an expensive guitar in it and tried to return it on the day that it arrived. Unfortunately, the shipping costs to return it, because it's "over-sized", are about $55.00.Add to that the $10.99 that the store already charged me for the original shipping and the economics of this purchasing decision become quite depressing. Now I'm stuck with something I don't like and don't want to use.
DO NOT buy it on-line.If you really want to consider one of these cases go to a music store that has one in stock and look it over very carefully.There are so many better and less expensive cases out there that no one should waste their time on this thing.

Not only was the sound incredible for the size of it; it was so easy to play, and you really had the feeling that you could give it a good hard playing.

Crisp sound, great tone, and very solid.The slim body is sure to please smaller players, and the sound carries more than enough volume.

Being able to play out of an amp only makes it more versatile.
I already own a takamine and a martin, but this guitar is a great instrument at a great price.

(More customer reviews)This guitar is good for a 5-9 year old.It's a beautiful guitar but a small 3/4 size guitar.The scale length of an average 3/4 guitar should be around 22.75" and this only has a 20-21" scale length.That makes a difference if you are looking to fit a 9-12 year old.

Other than the scale length, I would say this is a good guitar.So if you are looking for a young child and want a step up from a toy, then this would be your choice.
