(More customer reviews)I got it and was very disappointed.There is only one word to describe this and that is undersized.It is smaller than the other strumstick type instruments.It sounds fine, much less tinny - if you put your ear six inches away.Forget playing with other instruments as it will be drowned out.Its neck is much too thin on the finger board.If you are an adult, you can only play the first string, as the others are far closer than a guitar or ukulele. So forget learning to play chords, or the middle or third string, as even my little finger can't touch one string without touching at least one other.You are also supposed to attach the bridge your self, though they do give the clue that it must be at 194 mm from the last fret.On the plus side, it came with a nylon travel case and an, uh, knitting yarn sort of strap. For a child it would be a good instrument, and as a child's instrument, seems well enough made.But this is not good for adults.

(More customer reviews)Ok, how did I spend $200 on an electric acoustic, and get such an awesome deal?!! I've always been happy with Washburn, but this is ridiculous. I feel like I still owe them money! I compared this to a friend's $650Ibanez and the action and tone is exactly the same if not a bit better! WOW! The action isn't as comfortable as a Cort I tried at the same price, but the electronics are better and it rings out with tone-to-the-bone much better than the Cort. What's amazing is, I spent just about $40.00 less on a Fender Starcaster which was not electric and was of hideous quality of ridiculous proportions. Acoustically this guitar is a dream, and event though the action isn't "perfect", my hands don't hurt and I can kill every note. The real fun begins when I connect it to any of my amps, add some effects and am in total heaven. Don't pass up this deal. This is quality and fun, through-and-through!

Tuned it up played a few chords and was not satified. Strings did not sing out and action was to high. Took it to "Sam Gibbs Music" in W.F. Tx., had new Martin 4100 strings put on and Truss Rod adjusted,action was not messed with, maybe later. I've put up my Seagull Mar. SWS Mini and Eipiphone EF-500RA for now because,my new BABY sings with a S.C.(SWEET CRY)......Garrett

Not only was the sound incredible for the size of it; it was so easy to play, and you really had the feeling that you could give it a good hard playing.

Crisp sound, great tone, and very solid.The slim body is sure to please smaller players, and the sound carries more than enough volume.

Being able to play out of an amp only makes it more versatile.
I already own a takamine and a martin, but this guitar is a great instrument at a great price.

(More customer reviews)I love this guitar. Easy to play. Great Sustain and can play loud or soft. Higher frets are difficult as the strings get some distance from the fretboard. But good for fretboard finger strength excercises. It has a very deep and resonant voice for a guitar in this price range. I have played Martins and Guild Dreadnoughts that sounded better. But not THAT much better! A good take anywhere bang around guitar. I would not part with it.

(More customer reviews)This is a great value. This guitar looks great and is very well made. The sound is good, not great. It is somewhat weak sounding and tinny. This is in comparison to other low and mid priced guitars. It seems to be holding tune well, although the strings are still new and stretching. This is not a toy. Really crappy (toy) guitars can sell for similar prices or even more. You probably will not be able to get a better sounding guitar in this price range.

I think the folk size is better than 3/4 size for young teens and small adults. Dreadnought size can be uncomfortable to play, especially for beginners. Be careful if you want a case (especially a hard case). Bring the guitar with you to to check the fit. The size and shape of this guitar may make it slightly more difficult to find the right case. Don't buy one that is too big, the case should fit very snug.

I highly recommend this guitar for this price range.

Antonio Hermosa Classical Guitar, Solid Cedar Top Review

It shipped, and came posthaste; albeit I was concerned to find the box had absolutely no padding in it, or even a fragile sticker, but the guitar was in perfect shape still, and that doesn't concern this review.
It is a very good guitar; I'd recommend it to anyone wanting something well made and with good sound at a low price. I know little about how a classical guitar is supposed to sound; but whatever the standard may be, I'd think this would measure quite well. It sounds beautiful to me. And comparing it to my friends Yamaha C40, it has more projection and I think a better tone, and looks far nicer.
The action is very good, Just right; not to low as to buzz, but definitely not to high as to make playing hard. It play's very well.
And it's beautiful. The picture Amazon has on here is rather unappealing, maybe just because it's not detailed, but the guitar looks great. The tuning mechanism is plated brass on the sides, giving it a golden, elegant look, and the keys themselves are brown, and well shaped; not like the C40, with white cubes and plain tin or whatever they make it out of. The color of the guitar, and it's fine polish make it look quiet beautiful indeed.
And, for a bonus, they didn't polish to excess so as to hide the grain of the wood, like people always do with cheap guitars; instead you can see what they have made it with, and it is quality looking wood.
In all, this guitar is definitely worth whatever you might pay for it, (side-note, I think Amazons marking it down to $140 something is actually real, and not some trick to make you think you've found an amazing deal; this guitar is surly worth more than what they have it for) and comes highly recommended.

Dean Tradition Acoustic Guitar with Hardshell Case Review

(More customer reviews)I have owned my Dean Tradition acoustic guitar for about 10 years now. I've received numerous comments about how nice it is and how good it sounds for the price point at which I purchased it. As of this posting, Amazon's price is cheaper than even a well-known online "friend" of many musicians. And this comes with a hardshell case!! I paid at least this much 10 years ago and mine didn't have a case.

The guitar is well put-together and, as noted, as a nice tone. Really it depends on how you play it. If you finger pick, it has a soft, subtle sound that's maybe a bit muted. If you use a pick, you'll find that the sound is much brighter. The action is probably just about right for a beginner or for someone who's just a casual player. I personally found it a bit high, but it didn't hinder me. The fret board might be considered wide by someone with small hands, but for "average" folks, it too is just right. I used Elixir Light Polyweb Acoustic Guitar Strings and found them to be well-suited for use on this guitar. It made playing much more comfortable. The guitar tunes easily and stays in tune, as well.

If I were a "serious" guitar player or someone with a lot of skill, I'd probably be playing a Taylor. However, if you're looking for a beginner guitar or you are a casual player like me, you'll find the Dean Tradition is one of the best guitars available at this price.

Washburn Travel Series RO10TR Travel Guitar Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased this guitar to keep my fingers in shape while travelling on business.For that purpose it is very effective.I find myself playing for hours in my hotel room and have even written some song outlines with this guitar.

The Good: It's light and compact.The neck has a nice feel and is easy to play (with the strap).The tone is "okay" for a travel guitar, (it's thin but what do you expect out of a guitar this size).The guitar overall seems sturdy.

The Bad:It's a little bit long to fit right in the overhead bins on an airplane.It will fit length-wise but then roller bags no long fit properly.This is a minor gripe as the crew on all my flights have helped me find available space for it either on top of other bags or behind the last row of seats.The intonation isn't great and overall it goes out of tune quite quickly while playing.Higher quality tuners would have been nice.

Summary:Great travel guitar for the money.It's better than those neck only kits to practice on as it actually plays notes, but is definitely not a guitar "replacement".It's fine for a few nights away from home to keep the fingers in shape.

(More customer reviews)I helped my daughter buy this guitar for her fiance and I've had a chance to play it quite a bit.I also own several other dreadnaught-style guitars, both mid-range and high-end.This instrument is well crafted and nicely finished -- it doesn't look cheap at all.The one I played came nicely set up from the factory and was quite playable right out of the box and it could be fine-tuned to play even better.The tone was comparable to other under $300 dreadnaught guitars with good balance between the strings and excellent bass string volume -- great for bluegrass.However, where this guitar really shined, and where it set itself apart from other guitars, was its sustain.Most inexpensive guitars lack sustain and therefore don't sound full and airy, but this guitar has amazing sustain for its price and was very enjoyable to play, even for someone who regularly plays high-end guitars.The overall quality, easy of play and great sound make this a wonderful guitar for someone on a budget or beginning the guitar.

Luna Muse Safari 3/4 Travel Guitar w/ Gig Bag - Natural Review

(More customer reviews)Having tried most of the 3/4 size acoustic steel-string guitars, since I was looking for a short scale instrument that travels easily but mainly offers less tension on the strings (a benefit of shorter scale), the Luna Safari Muse seems by far the best deal. Yes the Taylor Baby (that costs twice as much) IS a little better sounding with a stronger bass, and sports a little more classy-cal finish, but I think the Luna is far better than the small XL Martins, not to speak of the Martin backpacker and a few others I tried. The instrument came well set up for average taste (a bit high but safe), with decent strings. I plan to lower the action a little at both the nut and bridge, and use lighter strings yet. The neck is straight and has a truss rod. Looks nice, feels fine, the frets are A-OK, the design is original, with an interesting edging in place of binding, and the satin finish is pleasing. I looked at 3 and none was a lemon. It seems it's wood unlike the "textured HPL" they use on the Martins (composite overlaid with photo of wood), though it's not all raw timber. The top seems layered and the bridge seems like a softer wood that is stained dark, but the vibration is transferred just fine. They use clever design to give you a decent acoustic guitar at under 150 bucks, nothing else like it at that price. The greatest weakness is perhaps its low mid range resonant peak. You can most notice it if you fret the D string at the octave, meaning you will hit a bit of that boxy "ukulele" tone at times. It's what some people object to in all the small-body guitars. Something like the Backpacker is all "ukulele" midrange. The truth is that the physics are inescapable, the trick is to squeeze a decent treble and bass out of the instrument anyway, and the Luna Safari does. Also that particular peak is part of the specific personality of the instrument. They accessorize with an allen wrench for the truss rod and an unpadded canvas bag that's pretty minimal.

Washburn Steel String Travel Acoustic Guitar (Black) Review

This little guitar was WAY better than I expected it to be.The sound is great-- not too soft, not too loud.Don't expect to be able to compete with the volume of a full-sized guitar.It doesn't have the full bass range that you'd expect from a larger guitar, but the overall tone is quite nice.I've taken this thing camping and felt comfortable knowing I wasn't annoying anyone at other campsites.I have even played quietly in my cubicle at work and no one has complained-- (probably depends on how casual your workplace is.)I even took it on a plane to Mexico and it easily fit in overhead storage with plenty of room to spare for suitcases.

I still haven't tried my own strings on it, which I suspect will improve the tone even more.The way it lays in the case makes it prone to de-tune itself (the tuners are really close to the walls of the case), but that's my only complaint.As others have stated, the strap had a really toxic petroleum smell when I first got it but that seemed to dissipate after a couple months or so.Not sure what that's all about, but it's easily remedied with your own strap--or just waiting it out.The case itself is really nice-- I felt like I was getting a real deal by them including it.

Not too easy to play without the strap due to the light body/heavier neck.However, the full-sized neck makes this guitar superior to some of the other 'backpacking' guitars out there.I'm glad this guitar has standard tuning, especially if someone else wants to play along.

I can't tell you how many people try my Washburn Rover out only to finally hand it back to me and say something like, "man, I should really pick one of these up... how much did you pay for it again?..."
