Dean Bass, Demonator Metalman Review

Dean Bass, Demonator Metalman
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This bass is decent but is not as advertised. I own this bass. The action is fairly low but there is a good amount of string buzzing.
It is sold as a mahogany "neck thru" bass when in fact it is made from Basswood with a "bolt on" maple neck. After I bought the bass under a false description and 10 days of arguing with the guys at Dean they finally changed the item description at their website but Dean has not cared enough about their distributors or customers to see that the description is changed at the distribution websites as well. They also did not care that I was stuck with a bass I really did not want. I expected a one piece bass that was mahogany like I purchased not a bolt on basswood bass.
Even the product description and the Metalman series description do not match right here at Amazon on this very page. This is not Amazon's fault as they can only use info given to them by Dean the manufacturer. I have used Dean instruments since the mid 80's and I have to say I am very dissapointed in Dean and especially their customer service. I do not appreciate deceptive trade practices so I would say buy another brand of Bass.

The Dean X Series
The Dean X Series offers ML, V and Z style guitars at a price that won't break the bank. These guitars feature maple necks, rosewood fretboards, dual humbuckers, and plenty of Dean mojo, and are built to rock--perfect for beginners and veterans alike.Basswood Body
The VX features a lightweight basswood body. Basswood is great for heavier rock and metal styles, delivering a nice even tone that feeds a dirt pedal (or a dimed Marshall) nicely.Bolt-On Construction
Bolt-on neck construction provides an affordable alternative to set-neck or thru-body designs. The advantage of this design is that if you do have any neck trouble down the line, you can easily replace it. The VX's maple neck features an ultra-playable 22-fret rosewood fingerboard, with classic dot inlays.Dean Humbucker Pickups
To capture the biting tones of vintage Deans, the company includes two of its standard humbuckers, in black-and-white "zebra" style for looks as good as the sounds. And what to expect tonally? These pickups should provide more than enough bite for modern styles, along with plenty of low-end and midrange definition. The standard three-way selector allows bridge, neck, or a combination. Each pickup gets a volume pot, and they share the tone control.Grover Tuners
If you play guitar then you know what this means--solid, dependable tuning from the industry standard. These guitar machines are a triumph in engineering and style, with a gear ratio of 14:1, perfect gear meshing, and zero backlash and slippage. The gear box has a special lubricant for lifetime, trouble-free service.

Dean EVO XM Solid Body Electric Guitar, Trans Black Review

Dean EVO XM Solid Body Electric Guitar, Trans Black
Average Reviews:

Dean EVO XM (black)

Positive(s): Great look. Great feel. Excellent quality. Sweet sound. Stays in tune a long time. Looks great. Came with 6 foot long cord. Was prestrung (but had to tune it, of course). Totally worth the money!!

Negative(s): When it arrived, the nuts holding the knobs and the switch were a little loose. I tightened them and all was well. It only took me about 2 minutes to tighten them.

Concerns: Does not come with a strap or stand (no big deal, just letting you know).

Delivery Concern: The guitar itself was packed in a "Dean" guitar box with minimal protection around it (no big deal if it were just sitting in a warehouse somewhere waiting to be purchased). When it was delivered to me, Amazon packed it in an additional, larger box but there was only about 2 pieces of packing paper protecting it and keeping the "dean" box from moving around. Luckily my guitar arrived undamaged which was a surprise due to the lack of packaging materials used. Pack your packages better, Amazon!

Dean Vendetta Guitar, XM with Tremelo, Trans Black Review

Dean Vendetta Guitar, XM with Tremelo, Trans Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I'm writing this review to help beginners. For those who don't know, a tremelo is a whammy-bar. this guitar "DOES NOT" have one. But this is still an excelent beginners axe with better sustain than much more expensive guitars. I would'nt worry too much about a whammy-bar right now, the guitar goes out of tune right after the first couple of whammy-bar dive bombs. I have a tremelo on my Vendetta XMT, and never use ir for that very reason. I don't miss it at all. So, heres the meat and potatos- this axe has more than decent pick-ups, it delivers a huge range of tones. It sounds great clean and distorted. This is a great rock guitar and an awsome METAL axe. You name it, and it can do it. You're only limited by your own skill. And speaking of skill levels, this is a very forgiving axe, the neck is not lightning fast, but is still very fast and easy to manipulate. Again the string-through body gives it amazing sustain. The volume and tone controls are not the best, but they get the job done, and something you'll find on any axe in this price range. Also this is a real full-size 24 fret guitar. The Jackson's and Ibanez's in this price range are 22 fret, or short scale guitars. Last but not least make sure you get the guitar (SET-UP) before you play it. The set-up is extremely important, All quality guitar shops will do this for free-just for buying the guitar. So insist on it, or pay a guitar-shop $30-$60 later. The set-up does more than make your guitar sound right, it helps you learn easier- because everything works corectly. So, at the end of the day, I would definately buy another Dean. I hope this review was helpful.

The Dean Vendetta Series
With four models to choose from, the Vendettas have string-through-body design, classic Dean V Ferrule pattern, dual Humbuckers, a 25.5-inch scale, and solid mahogany bodies with a maple neck. The Vendetta 1.0 and 2.0 are bolt-on models with black hardware. The 2.0 model features a solid flame maple top. The Vendetta 3.0 and 4.0 sport neck-through construction with the Pearl Evil Eye inlay running the length of the fretboard. The 4.0 version has a beautiful quilted maple top and is available in an all too popular "Tiger Eye" finish. Paulownia Body
Paulownia is an increasingly popular substitute for mahogany in more affordable guitar models. It's a fast-growing, hearty tree native to Japan and Southeast Asia, and has traditionally been used for Asian string instruments. As a lightweight, porous body wood, Paulownia is somewhat similar to swamp ash in its sonic signature: very resonant, with plenty of chime and a nice, tight low-end.

Dean Custom Zone Solid Body Electric Guitar, 2 Humbuckers Florescent Pink Review

Dean Custom Zone Solid Body Electric Guitar, 2 Humbuckers Florescent Pink
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this neon pink Dean Custom used on eBay for[...].Pink wasn't my first choice in color, but I couldn't pass it up for the price. But when I got it, I was stoked. The guitar looks hot! I've been playing for almost 4 years and own a Jackson Kelly JS30KE, Squire Strat, Carlson SG1, and a couple Paul Stanley PS series Washburns for show. I play mainly rock... KISS, AC/DC, Def Lep and a bunch of other 80's Butt-Rock tunes and blues and this guitar is perfect for that. Sounds better than my Squire and stock Kelly (until I put in a Seymour Duncan Jeff Beck in the bridge). The action was very low, no fret buzz, tuners feel cheap and might be replaced w/Sperzels soon, but they work. I hear using the whammy bar takes it out of tune quickly, but since I rarely use the whammy, I wouldn't know so I don't care.
This guitar can be purchased for [...] online and retails for [...]. If you can pick this up for [...] or cheaper, you got a deal! I would recommend this guitar for any beginner or novice, or anyone that wants a nice sounding guitar at a killer price. Way better than the Squire Stratocaster that most beginners (like me) usually get for a first guitar. Neck feels smooth, no sharp fret edges that I've noticed. No inlays either... that took getting used to, but looks slicker than snot! Feels sturdy too. This guitar RAWKS... go buy one.

Squier by Fender Bronco Bass, Black Review

Squier by Fender Bronco Bass, Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have had this bass for about 3 years now, and I must say, it's a very sturdy, and easy to use bass.you have beginners who have tempers?? well get this for sure!!It's a short-necked bass, so it makes it easier to play for smaller people.I got mine used and the only problems with it were loose connections in the inside, and a stripped screw on the pickup.I fixed both of those, and it sounds great!!

It's definately not for pros though, if you have a lot of experience in bass playing, then this probably isn't for you.Distortion isn't great either; it has one coil, and it doesn't handle distortion very well...

All in all, this is an excellent bass, and it is a great starter bass too...

Dean Tradition Acoustic Guitar with Hardshell Case Review

Dean Tradition Acoustic Guitar with Hardshell Case
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have owned my Dean Tradition acoustic guitar for about 10 years now. I've received numerous comments about how nice it is and how good it sounds for the price point at which I purchased it. As of this posting, Amazon's price is cheaper than even a well-known online "friend" of many musicians. And this comes with a hardshell case!! I paid at least this much 10 years ago and mine didn't have a case.

The guitar is well put-together and, as noted, as a nice tone. Really it depends on how you play it. If you finger pick, it has a soft, subtle sound that's maybe a bit muted. If you use a pick, you'll find that the sound is much brighter. The action is probably just about right for a beginner or for someone who's just a casual player. I personally found it a bit high, but it didn't hinder me. The fret board might be considered wide by someone with small hands, but for "average" folks, it too is just right. I used Elixir Light Polyweb Acoustic Guitar Strings and found them to be well-suited for use on this guitar. It made playing much more comfortable. The guitar tunes easily and stays in tune, as well.

If I were a "serious" guitar player or someone with a lot of skill, I'd probably be playing a Taylor. However, if you're looking for a beginner guitar or you are a casual player like me, you'll find the Dean Tradition is one of the best guitars available at this price.

Dean Edge 09 Bass, Mahogany Finish Review

Dean Edge 09 Bass, Mahogany Finish
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've been learning to play bass with this model for about a year and a half, and I enjoy it thoroughly. It's lighter than some instruments, but still has enough mass that it has a good tone. The neck is maybe not as slender as some fancier, faster basses, but it's still quite comfortable. It stays in tune well, and I've never had any troubles with the knobs or electronics.

With only a single pickup, and just knobs for volume and treble, you don't have much flexibility in sound. If you're just learning or playing for fun, this isn't much of an issue. The bass sounds great for a variety of jazz, blues and rock. One person I play with thinks the tone from this bass is nicer than one of his that cost about eight times as much.

A couple of other thoughts... You'll want to find a local guitar store to help you make adjustments periodically (and perhaps with initial setup), or learn to do it yourself.I use a Behringer practice amp, and it's partially responsible for the good tone that I seem to get. Finally, I rarely use a pick - if that's more your style, the lack of a pick guard might be an issue for you.

It is often said the "beauty is skin deep," but the Dean Edge Bass is clearly and exception. While beauty was the inspiration, we put every bit of our 20-plus years of design experience into these models. We started with a body styled and contoured for comfort, and to make them lighter we used choice basswood. The maple necks were profiled to be faster and sleeker than virtually all others. We designed a "uniquely Dean" custom neck joint and heel along with our asymmetrical four-bolt pattern, creating uninterrupted access all the way up the two octave neck. The Edge Bass is offered in four, five and six string models. Experience one of the world's finest basses. E09 M is the most affordable in the Edge Line.

I bought this bass a few months ago. It was so beautiful coming out of the box and seemed to play great. I only have one problem which I have no idea how this could happen. I went to tune it to standard (EADG). All was right except the A string which I can't get past a C sharp. I suppose this could be fixed with string replacement, but I have not yet done so because I don't have extra money to go get strings. Otherwise this is a great bass for the price and makes for an amazing practice bass or one for a beginner. Or perhaps one for people who can't afford an amazing bass. *points to self*

Dean Custom Zone Bass, Nuclear Green Review

Dean Custom Zone Bass, Nuclear Green
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I found this bass on Musician's Friend and ordered it there originally; it had great reviews from an assortment of players and the nuclear green color looked amazing. I ended up canceling my order with MF because of just how popular this guitar is- They had to put a 30-day backorder notice on it.

I paid the extra to get Amazon to ship it sooner and it was well worth it! The green is even sharper in person. I have never seen an instrument this color before.

I have it plugged into my Fender 60w Rumble Bass amp and I get a really full sound. It's great, especially for the price! My complaints are minimal, especially for just how affordable this made-in-China guitar is. I have a small fret buzz that I'll probably be spending [...] bucks or so to fix and the jack is making my sound fuzz a wee bit. It's unnoticed when actually playing with another guitar, though (Yes, I checked! :) ). Keeping in mind you're only spending [...] bucks on a guitar, this bass' tone is GREAT.

It's solid, great-looking, and a wonderful size for a medium-sized player (I'm 5'5" and it's perfect). I love playing it and it's going to make a great impression on the stage.

Got this for my son for Christmas. He wanted a guitar to take to band practice that wouldn't get beat up, etc.Sooo, I read these incredible reviews about this guitar, from seasoned musicians, raving about how light it is (made from Paulownia wood) and how you can practice without an amp due to how loudly it resonates. He played one at Guitar Center and fell in love with THAT guitar. (And he played so many of them.) He loves the action on it, and it has 24 frets!Thank you Santa!!!

Bolt-On Construction
The Vendetta XM uses bolt-on construction, an affordable alternative to set-neck or thru-body designs. The advantage of this design is that if you do have any neck trouble down the line, you can easily replace it. The maple neck features an ultra-playable 24-fret rosewood fingerboard, with classic dot inlays.Dean Humbucker Pickups
To capture the biting tones of vintage Deans, the company includes two humbuckers. These pickups should provide more than enough bite for modern styles, along with plenty of low-end and midrange definition. The standard three-way selector allows bridge, neck, or a combination, and volume and tone controls are provided.Dean Diecast Tuners
Dean's sealed diecast tuners offer solid tuning and mechanics, for a long lifetime of dependable performance.

Tune-o-Matic Bridge
A Tune-o-Matic bridge with string-thru body design provides even more sustain, along with precise intonation for your tuning preference. The classic v-shaped ferrule pattern adds some nice vintage Dean style.
