Antonio Hermosa Classical Guitar, Solid Cedar Top Review

Antonio Hermosa Classical Guitar, Solid Cedar Top
Average Reviews:

So I have this guitar now.

It shipped, and came posthaste; albeit I was concerned to find the box had absolutely no padding in it, or even a fragile sticker, but the guitar was in perfect shape still, and that doesn't concern this review.
It is a very good guitar; I'd recommend it to anyone wanting something well made and with good sound at a low price. I know little about how a classical guitar is supposed to sound; but whatever the standard may be, I'd think this would measure quite well. It sounds beautiful to me. And comparing it to my friends Yamaha C40, it has more projection and I think a better tone, and looks far nicer.
The action is very good, Just right; not to low as to buzz, but definitely not to high as to make playing hard. It play's very well.
And it's beautiful. The picture Amazon has on here is rather unappealing, maybe just because it's not detailed, but the guitar looks great. The tuning mechanism is plated brass on the sides, giving it a golden, elegant look, and the keys themselves are brown, and well shaped; not like the C40, with white cubes and plain tin or whatever they make it out of. The color of the guitar, and it's fine polish make it look quiet beautiful indeed.
And, for a bonus, they didn't polish to excess so as to hide the grain of the wood, like people always do with cheap guitars; instead you can see what they have made it with, and it is quality looking wood.
In all, this guitar is definitely worth whatever you might pay for it, (side-note, I think Amazons marking it down to $140 something is actually real, and not some trick to make you think you've found an amazing deal; this guitar is surly worth more than what they have it for) and comes highly recommended.

I purchased this guitar for my boyfriend, who lost his high-end strum in a flood. I wanted something affordable to tide him over. I checked with his friends and my musician family members-this was the brand they recommended. He loves it!

This is a great guitar for someone like me.....a guitar rookie.I'm a bass player that wants to dabble in guitar too. maybe be like Sting, Prince, or Paul McCartney. All of whom play both.I have to say, the emg designed pick-ups sold me, and kinda the price too.The patch cord that came with it was no good and caused the guitar to crackle.I think it sounds good, but i'm also still playing it out of a bass pratice amp. When I get my guitar amp it'll sound so much better. This guitar is a little money spend good. If you want to see it in action, there are plenty of people on youtube that shows how it sounds.

Crate CA15 Cimarron Acoustic Guitar Amplifier, 15 Watts RMS, Dual Inputs, 3 Band EQ with Mid Contour Review

Crate CA15 Cimarron Acoustic Guitar Amplifier, 15 Watts RMS, Dual Inputs, 3 Band EQ with Mid Contour
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have used many different All-In-One Amps during the 30+ Years I have been performing!Usually to get a real good sounding and yet powerful amp, you had to lug around a heavy and bulky system. With the Crate CA15, all that has changed.Don't let the 15 watt power output throw you. This amp actually has more power per watt than my 1000 watt 4 ohm surround sound home theater! No Kidding!I used one during a gig at a local country club with about 100 in attendance, I only had to have the volume on 1.5.Hard to believe, but just 1.5 out of a possible max of 10!And it has the old fashioned Reverb effects built in.It puts out a lot of bass too!Hat's off to the people at Crate!Excellent product with ease of weight and functionality!

Click Here to see more reviews about: Crate CA15 Cimarron Acoustic Guitar Amplifier, 15 Watts RMS, Dual Inputs, 3 Band EQ with Mid Contour

Product Description:
The CA15 Cimarron compact acoustic amplifier delivers 12 watts of pure musical power and has two inputs, each with its own gain control. Three bands of EQ, centered at critical frequencies, provide exceptional tone control and minimize feedback. The CA15 also features a flip-out locking bar underneath the cabinet, allowing you to tilt the amplifier back for use as a personal monitor.
CA15's handy RCA input jacks allow you to plug in a CD or MP3 player so you can practice along with your favorite music¾you can even plug in a pair of headphones. The Crate 8" woofer/piezo tweeter combination delivers smooth, pristine sound with outstanding projection and fidelity. And if you need a little more coverage, just plug another cabinet into the external speaker jack.

Why is it so hard to amplify an acoustic guitar? By its very nature, an acoustic instrument requires lots of feedback control, especially when it's asked to compete with drums and a stage full of rockers. And although most amps can effectively control feedback, they often do so by severely sacrificing tone for volume.

Our CA Series amps give you all the tone and features necessary to put your acoustic sound on top of the mix, whether you're soloing at the Opry or strummin' at the coffeehouse. With its unparalleled balance of clarity, power, natural tone, and intuitive controls, the Crate Acoustic Series remains our most widely endorsed amp line. Try one and you'll see why.

Squier by Fender BulletStrat w/Trem, Arctic White Review

Squier by Fender BulletStrat w/Trem, Arctic White
Average Reviews:

The Squier Bullet that I have is actually the model without the tremolo, however, everything else is just about the same as the model you see above. It's a nice guitar for the money. Nice size, action, and finish. It's not a high-end guitar so don't expect it to sound like one, but for a beginner, it's pretty sweet. I bought a more expensive blues guitar and had planned on trading this one in or selling it, however, I like it so much, that I plan on keeping it as a back up. Parts are pretty easy to come by (with slight modifications, but that's to be expected) and fairly cheap too.

Ursa 2 PK RN 3TS Sunburst Bass Guitar Package w/Amp, Carry Bag and Instructional DVD Review

Average Reviews:

We ordered this set on Fri, Jun 26, 2009 and it arrived on Jul 1, 2009. I was a bit nervous about the quality for $170 which included $29 for shipping by Fed Ex. We purchased this set for our 10 year old son who is really excited about playing the bass. The bass is beautiful. It seems to be well put together with no defects whatsoever. It was just a little out of tune. His teacher showed him how to tune it with the included tuner. The kit also came with a bag, strap, amp, and DVD. My son said that the DVD was a little hard to understand. The amp is a decent amp to practice with. This is definitely the way to go for a starter set. My son has not put this set down and we do not have to tell him to practice. Time will tell how good the set really is. His teacher said it is a nice guitar and amp. As he improves he should get a better one. This package is a steal. To me the bass is worth the total cost of the package.

I bought this guitar for my daughter when she turned 6.She was excited to get it, but it turns out she wasn't all tht interested in learning to play the guitar. Also turns out that I pick up and play this guitar more oftern than my Gibson, Gretsch, Tele or PRS.It's well-made, has good intonation (says in tune up and down the neck), good sound for the size, and is easy to play.I've owned and played cheapies and high end guitars, and I would recommend this for anyone interested in a small scale guitar or a knock-around/travel axe. Now it looks like her younger brother is interested in playing it...

The Good, Bad, and Ugly....

The Good:
1.Neck and action felt good.
2.Tuner worked great.
3.Design of guitar was clever and stored easily.

The Bad:
1.Amazon packing was poor.Box was way too big.As a result the guitar in the gig bag broke out of the manufacturer box and slid around the inside of the shipping box thus causing the gig bag to rip.
2.Volume control did not work smoothly.Went from no sound to about 90% sound.More like a switch than a smooth gradual volume control.I suspect it was a poor design and the resistance was far too high for the circuit design.
3.Tone control also did not work well. More like a switch than a control.
4.I ordered the mahogany stain.Clear, no stain model was shipped.

The Ugly:
1.The OGA-1 Headphone amp did not work. Only hear lots of static.Plugging the guitar input created lots of static.Switching from normal to overdrive was not smooth and you get no sound unless you giggle the switch.
2.Vibrato bar was corroded and pitted.Poor quality control

Even though the neck felt good, the quality control of the electronics and some of the hardware was very, very poor. Great concept design but they took too many shortcuts in getting a cheap price.

These are great pickups. I popped these into my Mexican Strat along with some locking tuners and upgraded electronics (all told around $200) and it sounds better that most stock American Strats now. Installation was simple (if you are not handy with a soldering iron have a shop take care of it) although I was a little confused that the bridge pickup had the differently colored wires and not the middle pickup (which is usually wired out of phase with the neck and bridge).

A really wonderful folk/concert sized steel string guitar that sounds just great. In terms of sound, it's got a slightly earthier tone to it, but also sounds slightly smaller than a dreadnought just because it's slightly smaller that other guitars. In terms of looks, you cannot beat it; the photo doesn't really do it justice. I sort of took a leap in purchasing this, and do not at all regret doing so.

I bought this case to hold and display an electric guitar which was autographed by Peter Tork of the Monkees. Not only was this the best buy for the cost, it was exactly what I wanted. The one thing you should be aware of is that the case hangs on the wall from hooks along the top.The bottom is free to swing away from the wall, so if someone were to bump into it, the whole thing could come crashing down, guitar and all.So what I did was to first hang it on the way, then open the case up and drill a hole straight through the felt covered backing and into the wall stud. This way, I was able to drive a wood screw through the case itself, preventing it from coming loose accidentally and destroying the very thing I'm trying to protect.

Saga HT-10 PS Style Electric Guitar Kit Review

Saga HT-10 PS Style Electric Guitar Kit
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Initial expectation was assemble a guitar that I could make look cool.Picked up a kit at a local shop and was surprised at the wood quality it was a bit better than expected. This unit was solid wood don't expect this in a squire. Yes, the hardware is cheap, especially the tuning pegs you will want to change these out if you are serious about the sound. The bridge setup was on par for guitars of this level and more than adequate.A real bridge will cost you more than the kit,.The pickups are much nicer than expected.I'm going to change them out eventually. Biggest grip is that the pre-drilled holes are not always aligned correctly and can ndrot be fix easily.Bottom line is when you finished you have guitar that plays like one worth $200 to $300 hundred dollars, but education and experience are priceless.Good if you want experience building, but not good for those who need a guitar. After building the HT-10 I can't understand why the Mexi-strats are so poorly assembled, but I've put $400+ of sweat equity into this project.Next time I'll tweak a solid base guitar than building from kit.

Vox Valvetronix VT15 Guitar Combo Amplifier - 1x8 inch, 15 watts Review

Vox Valvetronix VT15 Guitar Combo Amplifier - 1x8 inch, 15 watts
Average Reviews:

Wow.This is a sweet amp.I have played a variety of guitars & amps over the years, and -- for the money -- this amp cannot be beat.Tones are rich and "breathe" -- just like a tube amp, but with the convenience of a modeling amp.Compare to a Line 6 and prepare to be blown away by the sounds and on-board effects.Vox has a winner here, and the best tribute to this little amp is that it makes me want to be a better player.

Click Here to see more reviews about: Vox Valvetronix VT15 Guitar Combo Amplifier - 1x8 inch, 15 watts

Product Description:
Vox's Valvetronix series is a new generation of VOX amp fusing high-quality modeling technology with acclaimed VOX Valve Reactor tube technology. Utilize twenty-two amp models ranging from the latest high-gain monsters to hard-to-find boutique and vintage amps, along with a full array of effects, making the VT15 a combo that will have you covered for a wide variety of styles and techniques. Sixty-six preset programs are also provided, including twenty-two song programs that simulate the guitar sounds of famous guitarists, so even newbies can start enjoying serious guitar sound right away. A perfect practice amp, the VT15 puts 15 watts through a single eight-inch speaker, and provides a headphone output for a little privacy.

High-quality amplifier modeling with acclaimed VOX Valve Reactor tube technology. Click to enlarge.
Twenty-two sought-after tube amp sounds. Click to enlarge.
Add the VFS5 footswitch for more on-the-fly control of programs, reverb, and effects.
OX Valve Reactor Circuit
The VOX Valve Reactor circuit is the key factor that separates the Valvetronix series from other modeling amps. The 100% analog original power amp circuit actually has the same power amp circuit as a full-tube amp, using a 12AX7 miniature triode to reproduce a distinctive tube amp sound unattainable by digital technology. In other words, it replicates aspects that have an important influence on the sound of a tube amp, such as the power amp's class A/AB operation and the interaction of the power stage with the speaker, thus reproducing not only the response of the original amp's power amp circuitry, but also the power amp's distortion as well as the nuances and subjective sound pressure of a full-tube amp.
Since there's a power level control that allows you to decrease just the volume without affecting the tonal character, you can adjust the volume while enjoying the same sense of drive as when the master volume is at maximum. This means that you can obtain the exact same sound even when you're unable to play at maximum volume, such as when you're at home.
22 Amp Models
Another indispensible aspect of the Valvetronix series is the modeling technology that is the source of its diverse amp sounds. The sounds of twenty-two tube amps sought-after by the guitarists are built in, including vintage amps that are now hard to find, as well costly boutique amps. The coverage includes not only vintage types, but also the latest high-gain types, accommodating a wide variety of playing techniques and styles.
12 High-Quality Effects
Effects are an important part of creating your guitar sound. The VT series contains twelve effects with quality rivaling that of dedicated stand-alone processors, ranging from familiar standards to fresh new types. Of these, the reverb effect is always available, and three of the other eleven types are composite effects that allow up to three effects to be used simultaneously. Noise reduction can also be used at the same time. Each effect has multiple parameters that you can adjust to create the precise sound you want. There's also a tap switch that makes it easy to set the delay time or modulation speed. Independent reverb is provided, giving you an even broader range of sound-creating possibilities.
66 Preset Programs
For each amp model, the VT series provides a "song preset" that simulates the guitar sound of a famous guitarist, giving you a total of twenty-two such presets. These song presets make it easy to instantly obtain the guitar sound of well-known songs everyone has heard. Each amp model also has a "basic preset" that represents the most typical settings, as well as an "effected preset" that takes full advantage of the effects, totaling forty-four presets. Together with the song presets, you have a total of sixty-six preset programs. Of course, you can also save your own favorite edited programs as one of eight user programs.
Headphone Output
There's a headphone output that can be connected to headphones or to your mixer or multi-track recorder. Since the tonal characteristics of the cabinet are applied to this output, the sound will not be impaired even if you make a direct-line recording or listen through headphones, ensuring that you continue to get that great spatial depth and character.
Optional VFS5 Footswitch
By using the optional VFS5 foot switch you can switch programs, turn reverb or other effects on/off, or make speed/tap settings using your foot. This is a great advantage when you're creating sounds or performing live.

Coffin Case 300VX Monster Wood Coffin Guitar Case for Extreme Guitars, Black Exterior with Red Interior Review

Coffin Case 300VX Monster Wood Coffin Guitar Case for Extreme Guitars, Black Exterior with Red Interior
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have been looking for a versitile case that would allow me to carry a few guitars that will not fit standard cases. What do I mean by standard? Well there are several cases that will accomodate most "STRAT" shaped guitars, also cases that will accommodate most Les Paul shaped guitars. That is nice should you have either one of these guitars. However should you have a guitar such as a Flying "V" or an Explorer, ML, Destroyers and the DIME RAZORBACKS. Well this case will hold all of these. The fit and finish are pretty good. The inside looks very nice, one of the best looks in some time. Now for the negative aspects of this case. I prefer a case to be molded plastic or poly. This case is wood and Tolex, not that it is a bad case. It is just a preference, i deal with scratches better than torn areas on a case. Of course you can always have it recoveredif it becomes unbearable. Scratched and dented cases are things you live with if they occur. Still I do prefer plastic or poly cases for the following reason: I ship alot of guitars to and from other countries. it is much easier to ship a guitar in a plastic case than a Tolex covered one. The lables used to ship stick better and the cases usually do much better with plastic. I have shipped the others with success (the item arrived intact) but the case usually has torn areas or rips in the Tolex. As there are not too many choices for us with extreme guitar shapes, this case is a Godsend and an answered prayer for me. I have a case for all of my guitars, I just like it that way. If you are looking for a case to house and protect your guitar, this one will fit and do the job. Just be informed it is large, it almost stands 5 foot tall (really). I hope this helps, I just ordered the case and hoped for the best. I finally saw a picture of a RAZORBACK and knew it would fit my guitar as well.CJWII

I decided one day to try out classical guitaring, so I bought a used Fender from a Craigslist ad.The thing sounded awful; shallow, muffled and not very loud even after installing new high-end strings. It also went completely out of tune every two days.I eventually got rid of it and was soured on nylon stringed guitars for a while.

Then my teacher showed me her $4,000 custom built classical guitar and it sounded beautiful, so I decided to give nylon fingerpicking another shot.I went to Guitar Center and tried out over a dozen different guitars in their special classical guitar room, and this was the one I decided on.Even though it was the second cheapest model they sold I felt it had a deeper, richer and louder sound than 75% of the rest, some with $800+ price tags. It's also easy to play (at least compared to my steel stringed Seagull).

Since then I've had no reason to regret my decision.I compared it side-by-side with my teacher's guitar, and although hers does sound better it's not by the margin you'd expect when compared against the price tags.Overall a very satisfying playing experience.

If I had to nitpick at something it would be minor asthetic imperfections. The guitar body has a thick glossy finish (something I don't care for), and the fret board is unevenly stained and has evidence of glue residue around some of the frets.None of this, however, detract from its sound and playability.

I am currently happy with this item, but there are some things you must first know about it:

1. The 9V battery for the pickup is only accessible through the small sound hole. You must loosen and spread the strings to get to it. The battery had fallen off during shipping and was rattling around in the body when I got it, but no damage was done.

2. The pickup seems to be just a microphone attached to the bridge area inside the body. When I play and I get too close to my amp or too loud, I get loud feedback. If I shout at the bridge, I can hear my voice a bit. Sometimes when shifting the body in my hands or sliding my fingers up the factory strings, I can hear it on the amp. This, however, is only at high volumes. Playing at a reasonable volume, however, it sounds fine. Just don't expect to play a loud gig with this.

3. The strings that came with it were terrible, and they came factory installed in a really slipshod fashion. Essentially, they had tied a knot at the end of the string, fed it through the bridge hole, and wound it around the peg. When I tried to tune the high string, it kept pulling through the hole. I went and bought a set of Martin crystal strings and they look, feel and play much better. That also eliminated the sound I heard on the pickup when sliding my fingers up the strings. I also strung them up by using the over, under, over, under method common to classical guitar stringing. I have also read a suggestion that using a different, larger knot will also solve the problem. I did not try that.

Since I have gone through these three items, I have been playing it for two evenings straight and have no other problems not common to all ukuleles. Yes, you will need to tune it every 5 minutes for the first few hours of play, the strings will settle in after you've tuned it a couple dozen times. This is normal.
