Austin Bazaar 39 Inch Metallic Pink Electric Guitar Beginner Kit with 10 Watt Amp Review

Austin Bazaar 39 Inch Metallic Pink Electric Guitar Beginner Kit with 10 Watt Amp
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this as a beginner guitar, just something to learn on and play around with.I already have a Fender bass so I thought I'd try and finger out the electric guitar. The sound quality isn't that bad, and it stayed in tune pretty well. The amp is pretty small, maybe 15 inches in height and width and maybe 6 inches thick, but it was really nice for toting around and traveling with. The amp has a distortion button on it which was fun, but not really great quality. It comes with an extra string, pick, strap, and carrying case. The carrying case is not usable at all, I had to throw it away, it was like using a plastic bag to carry aroung my guitar and it was really dirty and dusty...but that is really not a big deal, most packages come with a less-than-great carrying case, so I suggest that you keep that in mind when you purchase this guitar, you'll have to separately buy a reliable case if you want to carry it around. The strap isn't the greatest either, but it's to be expected from this type of purchase. It is usable, I have used it many times, but if you want a super comfortable strap - plan on buying that separately as well.I've also dropped this guitar a few times and it stayed in tune!

The bottom line is that this is actually a pretty great deal for a beginner. It comes with an amp which is a *huge* bonus, and the amp works very well. It's PINK which is also a plus. :)It sounds pretty good, is sturdy, and is overall an awesome guitar package for the price.

Bought it, liked it, ok for the price but i wouldn't recommend buying from sam ash the guitar was ok but the packaging was horrid and poorly put together. On a different note the guitar doesn't stay in tune too long and i was expecting more because it was a washburn but the price tag says it all the WI15 is a lot better for $40 more so just put two more twenties in the bank.

Debutante Rock Candy Guitar, Cosmic Purple Review

Debutante Rock Candy Guitar, Cosmic Purple
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This guitar is extremely solid, the tone is awesome, and the color is exceptional. I purchased this guitar for my 5 year old daughter since she is really involved with the Disney stars like most kids her age. The Daisy Rock brand is getting to be a fairly recognizable and respectable name and since it's endorsed by artists like Avril Lavigne, and Miley Cyrus I figured it would be something she would enjoy! She absolutely loves it and obviously I know a 5 year old would love anything you give them but her face really did light up when she saw it. I was extremely surprised when I started to play it, especially since the pickups, from what I understand, are the daisy rock brand and they sound great!

Please don't be fooled by other reviewers of this guitar. I browsed a few of the reviews for the debutante series and there were a few misleading such as the customer who had a string break and he needs to "tighten" the rest of the strings so it doesn't happen again.Strings break, it should not bring down the quality of the guitar since it has nothing to do with it.

I have been playing guitar for at least 5 years now and own 4 guitars, all of which are high end. I have played telecasters, les pauls, sgs, you name it.This really is a nice guitar for any girl looking to get into guitars so don't pass it up!

Line 6 BackTrack + Mic Guitar Riff Recorder Review

Line 6 BackTrack + Mic Guitar Riff Recorder
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Why is easy so hard? What is it about electrical engineers that they have to stuff their bells and whistles full of more bells and whistles? And with on-board computing, this practice of `mine is more ginormous than yours' is out of control. I know MDs and PhDs who have a variety of handheld devices that absorb months of their lives in a frustrating learning curve.

For a long time I recorded my own personal jams on a stereo recorder that I got for 5 bucks at a yard sale. Two mics against the amp and all I had to do was press record. But my friend who lives in the far off land of New Jersey wanted to hear my stuff so I had to do the laborious transfer from analog to digital...hassle-o-rama dude. So I wanted something that would basically do the same thing: hit record, play, listen...but that was digital so I could bring it to the PC and email it off. Kinda like the PC cameras that they have where you shoot, bring it to the PC and send it off. No such luck. Everything was multi-track onboard technology with the dot matrix window and the 2 million options and a headache in a box.

I'd like to say that there was no learning curve with the Backtrack (w/mic) but I can't. The hardest part was just figuring out what to push if you just wanted to, uh, what do you call it...?...oh yeah, RECORD. This thing is designed to record when you play and stop when you don't. Which I don't get. I can push a button.

I did figure out which two buttons to push to immediately and continuously record. Once you bring it to a PC it opens like a flash drive and it has everything you recorded. Cool. The only other problem is that to set the levels you have to download the software that allows for you to set the parameters. The software is, thankfully, on the recorder so there's no separate CD that can get lost. However, you then have to set the parameters (like record volume) at the PC. This was not a big problem with me because I'm a one man show. But if you have a full band and your running back and forth to the PC to get correct volume, well, that would--I think the technical word is--suck. On the other hand...had they put the record level interface on the unit I woulda complained that the unit interface was too complicated. So I take it all back. I like that parameter setting is on a large well-lit PC monitor, rather than the unit. Never satisfied.

My suggestions to Line 6 are:
*Make it even simpler. Make it so you can push a button which says record and that will, uh, record with no fuss.
*Make it so the software has a "do you want an icon on the desktop?" option, like every other application in the Universe. I had to search to find the software once it was downloaded.
*Make the writing larger. Why is it that manufacturers have all the words that you'll use to operate the machine in .0006 font, but the name of the company is in 48 point font?

I did have to call Line 6 for technical help. It turns out that my awesomely loud jams had stuck the thing in record mode and I couldn't get it to turn off. After ~ 5 minutes of wait time being told that I was "the next in line" I got a rep who told me that there is a button in a hole that uses a paper clip to get at. Nice enough guy and I appreciated it.

I like the Line 6 stuff--I have an amp of theirs as well. Their products are pretty simple and inexpensive and clean looking and functional. I give the Backtrack w/mic five stars partially because they have succeeded, maybe not perfectly, but well enough to beat the crap out the competition. Simplicity in a box. That's what we all want.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are some of the differences between BackTrack™ and BackTrack™ + Mic?

The biggest differences: BackTrack + Mic features a microphone and a 1/8-inch headphone output, BackTrack does not. Both feature similar features, though, including variable sample rates and bit depth, which are shown here:
BackTrack + Mic
BackTrackSample Rate

Bit Depth 24 hours of
audio capture

12 hours of
audio capture11 kHz16 bit*12 hours

6 hours22 kHz16 bit*8 hours

4 hours32 kHz16 bit6 hours

3 hours44.1 kHz16 bit(Standard
CD audio)5 hours

2.5 hours48 kHz16 bit4 hours

2 hours44.1 kHz24 bit4 hours
2 hours48 kHz24 bit

*These settings are not recommended for mic'ed full-range audio but may be sufficient for direct guitar.

How much audio can I record? At their capacities, BackTrack + Mic can capture up to 24 hours of audio and BackTrack can capture up to 12 hours but it depends on the sample rate and bit depth you've chosen. At 16-bit/44.1 kHz (standard CD audio), BackTrack + Mic can capture six hours of audio whereas BackTrack can capture only three hours.
What's the big button on top? That's the "Mark" button and it's a great feature. After playing something really special, press "Mark". Your marked ideas are stored in a separate folder on the flash drive so when you go to drag your ideas off your BackTrack to import them into your recording software, your best ideas will be there waiting for you.
What's with the USB connection?BackTrack and BackTrack + Mic each have a USB connection for two main reasons: • To transfer your ideas to your recording software.

• To recharge the battery.

What's the best way to use BackTrack? There's no best way to use BackTrack. It's equally effective at home, on stage, at rehearsal or anywhere else you're playing.
What kind of file is the recorded audio?Everything you record is saved as .WAV files. These high-quality audio files will sound great when imported into your recording software.
What's automatic gain control in BackTrack + Mic?Automatic gain control guards against clipping and overloading, and helps maintain an even level when you're recording using the microphone.
How do I import files from my BackTrack into my recording software? It can vary so we recommend that you read your software's manual but, with most applications, it's as easy as dragging an audio file right onto a track.
Can I ditch school and record lectures with BackTrack + Mic?Of course! BackTrack + Mic features an 8-hour battery and a flash drive that can capture up to 24 hours of audio-plenty of power to record lectures that seem to go on forever. But we can't guarantee that you'll pass your class.
Does this thing have models?Nope, no models. It's a recording device.

I went thru 3 of these - they all worked great on batteries. But with AC adapter (standard 9v pedalboard power supply) after 5 minutes they started humming/distorting/robot-like stuff.UNTIL i got the latest revision of the XDS95 which had a new frequency label pasted over the original label on both units.THIS ONE WORKED GREAT with or without power supply.I was disappointed that LINE 6 realized they had a problem but made no effort to have the vendors recall or offer a free fix.

Well, I bought this to replace my Pod 2.0 and my floorboard. This is a more compact package with much better effects. The device is plastic, and probably won't be as durable as the floorboard (which is probably indestructible).I don't notice much of a difference in sound, if any.I haven't recorded with it yet, mainly used it live.

Ins and Outs

Whether you're practicing the songs you've written, recording an album, or playing live on stage, Floor POD® Plus has all the ins and outs you need to shine in any situation. Just plug in front of any guitar amp and crank it up, or plug directly into the board to instantly access that famous POD® direct tone.

MIDI In & Out - Connect Floor POD Plus to your MIDI equipment to select Channel Memories (via Program Change messages), automate settings (via Continuous Controller messages) and back up your tones (via SysEx). All the details are online at line6.com/manuals, in the downloadable MIDI Reference document.

Phones - When it's time to monitor while recording or to make sure you aren't going to keep the neighbors up all night, plug in the headphones here.

Output To Amp/Line - The unbalanced 1/4-inch connectors get the sound from your Floor POD Plus to a guitar amplifier, recorder, mixer or PA system. Flick the rear panel switch to AMP when you're feeding into the front of a guitar amp, or choose LINE to send you signal to a mixer or PA. The rear panel LEVEL knob sets the - you guessed it! – Your master output level. Changing the OUTPUT level does not change your tone, so you can get the tone you want at any volume level.

Aux Input - Connect a CD player, MP3 player, drum machine, virtual accordion, or other device here, and you'll hear it at the Floor POD Plus headphone and Left and Right outputs. Very handy for jamming along!

Input – Hey- Your guitar goes here.

Amazing Sound with Minimal Setup Time When you bring Floor POD® Plus to your gig, you have all of your signature sounds ready to go with no hassles. Plug in front of any guitar amp or use the direct outs to go to the mixing board, either way you're gonna sound great. Why? Because they are your sounds without compromise.

Record With Ease

When it comes time to record, Floor POD® Plus takes your signature sounds and lays them perfectly in the mix. Just plug it into the mixing board, call up your presets, and make music history. No more hauling around a bunch of heavy gear, so your broken back is a thing of the past.

Average Reviews:

This is a pretty ordinary guitar...but even the price is ordinary so it breaks even i guess. let me put the cons first.

1. the guitar action is pretty high...i had to adjust the bridge tomake it more playable.
2. i have a yamaha acoustic guitar and this guitar is pretty tough to play in comparision so not recommended for beginers.
3. if you plan to buy one be sure to change the strings as soon as you can.

pros:
1. pretty light guitar considering it has a fishman pickup built in.
2. sounds really good if played correctly.
3. body structure and fret board are very adorable.

Epiphone SG Special Electric Guitar, Cherry Review

Epiphone SG Special Electric Guitar, Cherry
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This guitar even arrives in a nice box, double protected from Musician's Friend with a larger outer box loaded with packing to keep the prize awaiting inside safe. The inside, another Epiphone box by Gibson.Opening it reveals a masterpiece to the eyes, seemless paint job in cherry, easy on the eyes (no, not the girl who packed it at the plant, the guitar!).I wanted an SG for a long time, but they were so costly I grazed past it to other models for an intermediate like me getting back in the ranks. This thing looks and feels like the Gibson original, it's light, easy to hold, sits perfectly on your knee, tunes awesome, sounds great, and when I put it through my distortion pedal, I thought I was hearing Metallica... of course, then I woke up.The neck plays fast and the pickup switch gives you the ability to have the full two pickups on for rhythm, the back one on only for lead with a twangier taste, and the front one for a heavier-bassier tone. The full two pickups boring down with some strong bar chords are my favorite. My friend who is an officianado grabbed it and made it sound like a $4,000.00 guitar, then handed it back to me with a sneer and said that he could make anything sound good, but the axe I got for $169 was "okay."In his eyes, that really meant he had to say that so I didn't get a swelled head.Together with a SG model hardshell case from Amazon (off copy) with black velvet style interior, it looks delectable.Buy this one first, then move on to something more expensive, but you don't really have to.Save the money and buy yourself a ticket to the Bahamas, but don't forget to take the SG with you... you may need an Epiphone portable amp though for the beach so people don't even dare kick sand in your face. They may even buy you a Pina Colada, but don't be a dummy and spill it on this masterpiece.

Product Description:
Now everyone can own a real SG shape! The SG Special from Epiphone features twin open-coil Humbucker pickups, the Tune-o-matic bridge/Stopbar tailpiece combo for maximum sustain and a fully-carved SG body for devilish good looks.

Devilish good looks.

Twin open-coil humbuckers and the industry-standard Tune-O-Matic bridge.
Rosewood fretboard with dot inlays.
Angled Headstock
Unlike cheaper designs, all Epiphones feature a 14-degree headstock that gives you more pressure at the nut and so you get more sustain with less tuning hang-ups caused by "string-tree" gadgets.
Double-Waxed Pickups
Epiphone utilizes a double vacuum waxing process that ensures optimum performance. The pickup is first placed in the specialized wax vacuuming system before the cover is put in place to ensure that the wax fully penetrates to the very center of the pickup and solidifies all parts. After the cover is placed on, it is again given a second vacuum wax bath until the unit is completely saturated with wax.
Output Jack
To increase reliability and ensure consistent performance, Epiphone's proprietary output jacks feature an improved contact shape and heavy-duty spring steel.
Toggle Switches
All Epiphones feature our all-metal, USA designed switches for reliable contact and longer life.
Tunomatic Bridge
Fully adjustable, the tunomatic remains a classic after over 50 years. Unlike guitars fitted with tremolos, there are no tuning or re-stringing difficulties. Plus, tone and sustain are improved because all string vibrations are transferred directly to the guitar.
Potentiometers
Epiphone is passionate about performance. That's why their instruments use one-inch diameter potentiometers for better "throw," longer life and reliable service.
Quick-Connectors
For unequalled reliability as well as ease of service, Epiphone wiring harnesses feature quick-connectors.

Squier by Fender Bronco Bass, Black Review

Squier by Fender Bronco Bass, Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have had this bass for about 3 years now, and I must say, it's a very sturdy, and easy to use bass.you have beginners who have tempers?? well get this for sure!!It's a short-necked bass, so it makes it easier to play for smaller people.I got mine used and the only problems with it were loose connections in the inside, and a stripped screw on the pickup.I fixed both of those, and it sounds great!!

It's definately not for pros though, if you have a lot of experience in bass playing, then this probably isn't for you.Distortion isn't great either; it has one coil, and it doesn't handle distortion very well...

All in all, this is an excellent bass, and it is a great starter bass too...

Saga PB-10 P Style Electric Bass Kit Review

Saga PB-10 P Style Electric Bass Kit
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased a Saga P-bass kit from another vendor, with the aim of having an early summer project. The problem was that I had some spare time one weekend and really wanted to get the box out of the way. Oops, so much for a summer project. Staining, lacquering, and assembling the bass generally was pretty easy. Building one of these kits does provide some insight into how electric guitars and basses go together, and force you really to think about alignments, string set up, and so on. The finished bass plays well in tune, after some adjustments to the bridge tuners. I had a couple of friends who really know electric basses play it and they agreed that it does have a Precision sound to it. The pickups are plenty strong and the tuners hold their tune very well. All in all, it's great to have a pretty decent bass for under $150, and knowing that I'm the one who put it together makes it much more satisfying than buying a Squire or a non-Fender copy. Also, I feel like I have more room to tinker with it. So, the summer project looks like it's going to be a Saga TC-10 kit.

Ministar AMS-LESTAR Electric Guitar (6 String, Natural Maple, 24.75 Scale) Review

Ministar AMS-LESTAR Electric Guitar
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Well, the first one that I received was defective. I believe it was the stacked potentiometer. I, of course, returned it and had another sent to me. When I opened the box two strings were busted (high "E" and "B"). My heart sank. But when I hooked it up to my amp there were no problems with the electronics and my heart floated again. The broken strings were no problem as I had planned to replace them anyway. They were ".09"s and I wanted ".10"s on the guitar. After all, this guitar has two humbuckers and .09 guage strings would not do it justice. Then I adjusted the trussrod. Wow, this little guy rocks! No, its not a Les Paul but for the money it gets close enough. With the included brackets for using whilst standing, this guitar is very, very comfortable. Though you cannot adjust intonation it was close enough to live with. Travel guitars are compromises. Thats the reason they are lighter and smaller than the full size ones. This one suits me fine. It comes with a cable, brackets for standing and sitting, a strap, hex wrench and instructions all in the carry bag. For the price it is a winner.

Dean Starter Bass Pack with Edge 09 Bass, Metallic Red Review

Dean Starter Bass Pack with Edge 09 Bass, Metallic Red
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
When I wanted to learn how to play the bass guitar, I wanted to pick up an instrument that was affordable, but would not be substandard in quality to the point that it would frustrate me.

I have really enjoyed learning with this instrument -- and am still enjoying it!I'm not a connoisseur of bass guitars, but I've been happy with the sound on this guitar, and it has been easy to play.I've been playing for about half a year, including weekly "performance" with a praise team group at my church, and I am confident it will be some time before I have "outgrown" this beginner instrument.

I docked a star from this package because, in my opinion, the rest of the accessories that come along with the bass aren't worth much. The amp will work for practice, but doesn't bring enough volume to play in a performance setting without a loud buzzing.I rarely use it.

I still use the gig bag from this package, but it has not weathered well -- another reviewer described it fairly accurately as "thin as paper".Better than not having a bag at all, but it doesn't protect the instrument. My bag (which I am pretty gentle with) has developed several small tears that are slowly getting bigger, including a decent hole by the strap near the bottom... which means that if I wait too long before picking up a new one, either the strap will snap, or the weight of the bass will make it tear through the hole and fall to the ground!

The strap does what it should (no more, no less), and I don't use the rest because I already owned good quality picks, audio cables, and tuners, that are better than what is provided here... the included tuner seems awkward to use.
.................

Summary: It's a good beginner instrument (I still love mine!) -- but I don't really consider the rest of this "value pack" to be worth the expense, IF you are looking for accessories to keep around and use for a while. The whole package is probably worth it if you, like me when I started, are not ENTIRELY sure you are going to be sticking it out for the "long haul" with playing the bass.

Orange Amplifiers Crush PiX Series CR20LDX 20W 1x8 Guitar Combo Amp, Black Review

Orange Amplifiers Crush PiX Series CR20LDX 20W 1x8 Guitar Combo Amp, Black
Average Reviews:

I purchased this amp at Guitar Center locally for the same price listed here.. $159.I can say that I do not regret my choice over a Marshall or Peavey.Don't let the lack of knobs and buttons fool you.If you play with the gain and overdrive, you can pull out anything from John Mellencamp to Queen to Metallica. The on board FX are spot on and sound beautiful and professional. It is very easy to produce a nice, full range acoustic sound as well. I was a little hesitant with my choice at first, but after playing with the amp for a few days, I wouldn't give it up for anything.Volume is what is expected for a practice amp.For general playing, I never put it over 2 or 3.I did put it up to 5 once, and I do not see why you could not keep up with drums at that level.I don't see this amp gigging, maybe a very small club or lounge, but it does what it was intended to do.. and it does it well.

I really wish this model was foot switch compatible, but I knew it wasn't when I purchased it.I suppose most people use pedals anyway. But the quality of sound and effects from this amp is awesome.

Luna Neo Mini Electric Guitar - White Review

Luna Neo Mini Electric Guitar - White
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this guitar in attempt to practice the technique of wrapping your thumb around the neck to play the bass line (watch the footage of Hendrix at woodstock). A small scale guitar would be perfect for that. And, for just that, it does ok. However, quite a number of the frets buzz, the body is not contoured to anyones body, and you are smacked in the face with "cheap". I even broke the adjustable poles on the humbuckers the first time I tried to turn them. Weirdly, this actually improved the sound quality, which was below average to begin with. With all the poles sank deep into the humbucker it actually has a rather nice mellow tone now.

Around the time I bought this, I picked up an Ibanez Mikro for the same price. As a short scale guitar, the Ibanez is much, much better and easier to play, though it lacks the "warmth" of midrange tone you get from the Luna.

For the price, the Luna a decent guitar, though it should only be considered a basic beginner guitar or practice guitar. It does look good though.

Product Description:
That trademark Les Paul shape in an economical package, including to open-coil Alnico V Humbucker pickups for great classic sound and the Tune-o-matic bridge/Stopbar tailpiece combo for sustain and that signature Les Paul tone.

Les Paul Features in an Economical Package.

Angled Headstock
Unlike cheaper designs, all Epiphones feature a 14-degree headstock that gives you more pressure at the nut and so you get more sustain with less tuning hang-ups caused by "string-tree" gadgets.
Alnico V Humbucker pickups and the industry-standard Tune-O-Matic bridge.
Rosewood fretboard with dot inlays.
